Reach out to them

Ever since I started learning Rails, I have been following a few individuals online and reading their blogs. From the top of my head, I can recall Marco Roth, Chris Oliver, and Akshay Khot among them.

One person who particularly caught my interest is Akshay Khot. He had been a C# developer for approximately seven years before transitioning to Ruby on Rails.

As a fellow C# developer who aspires to find refuge in Rails, I thoroughly examined his blog but couldn’t find any articles specifically about switching technologies midway through one’s career.

So, I decided to reach out to him by email, which I found on his about page, seeking guidance. Surprisingly, he responded and provided me with valuable advice on how to approach this transition and what to anticipate along the way.

The internet can be a friendly place if you treat others with respect and decency. Therefore, if you ever require help from someone online, don’t hesitate to reach out to them. Just remember to be mindful of their time. There is a good chance they will respond and lend you a helping hand.

After all, what’s the point of the internet if we don’t utilize it for such meaningful interactions?
